Spicy Apricot & Nectarine Smoothie

'Tis the season for tree fruit in BC. They're everywhere in the markets right now and I'm lovin' it!

Somewhere between late June & early August (depending on where you are) local fruit start appearing in the markets. Usually, berries lead the way and are often followed by softer fleshed fruits (like apricots & nectarines, peaches) and the season closes off with pears & apples.

If you're lucky enough to live in the south, citrus might also be part of the party! Up here, however, local fruit although abundant, doesn't include all the staple grocery store varieties. That's okay.

I have no issue with that because the beautiful ripe local fruit are enough to keep this gal going through the hotter days. I will admit however, that I have a hard time living without bananas & the occasional grapefruit. I do, however prioritize local over imported whenever I can. 


Ingredients

makes serving

2 apricots
2 nectarines
1 lime, juiced
pinch of cayenne

Directions

5 mins

Chop up your fruit & remove the seed
Place everything in a blender & top up with enough water to have 3C total
Blend until smooth & serve
